On January 13, 2022, the Governing Council of the Ghana Education Service was officially inaugurated by the Hon. Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, during a brief swearing-in ceremony.
In order to assist the President and the Government in preparing young Ghanaians for employment in the fourth industrial revolution—the digital age—he congratulated the Council members on their selection to the GES Council and urged them to apply their extensive knowledge and expertise to Pre-tertiary Education.
The primary responsibility of the GES Council is to provide advice to the Minister of Education on the development of national policies and the coordination of authorized policies, programs, and standards pertaining to the delivery of elementary and secondary education.
The West African Examination Council (WAEC), the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA), the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), the Teacher Unions, the Ministry of Education (MoE), the Local Government Service Council (LGSC), the Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), and the Non-teaching Staff of the GES make up the membership of the governing body of the Education Service (TEWU).
