As the cedi continues to weaken, the dollar exchange rate to cedi is increasing more quickly. The dollar has been on the rise and has established a position of dominant power and influence over the cedi since December 23, 2023, when it began to recover against the cedi.

The cedi rate was set at GHS8.95 per $1 on December 16; as of today, Google has set the rate at GHS11.96. A dollar is being sold for GHS13.20 in Accra at forex offices like Afriswap.
