NPP selects January 31 as the election date |
According to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the precise day and time of the primaries to choose its flagbearer for the 2024 elections will be decided on January 31, 2023.
The National Executive Council (NEC) and the NPP Steering Committee will convene on January 31, 2023, and they will set the dates for the two significant party elections, according to NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, who made this announcement on Kumasi-based Hello FM.
He claims that certain party bosses have also advocated holding the NPP's presidential and legislative elections concurrently in order to reduce costs.
According to Justin Kodua, party leaders who support holding the two elections concurrently have also stated that doing so will promote party harmony and peace.
Regardless, the party has not made a firm decision about the day and dates of the two elections. On January 31, 2023, we will be informed of the dates, he stated.
The party leadership will act in the NPP's best interest, according to Justin Kodua, who is now in the party's heartland, the Ashanti Region, to address important party matters.
The NPP General Secretary made it clear that his party will make every effort to guarantee that both the presidential and legislative elections would be free and fair.
"As General Secretary of our great party, I pledge to oversee a fair internal election to choose our next president and representatives to the parliamentary body.
Justin Kodua reassured and emphasized that the party is ready and motivated to regain power in 2024 and said, "Take this from me, I will not take sides in these two vital elections."
Prior to the elections in 2024, he said that guaranteeing free and fair elections to choose the NPP's flagbearer and parliamentary candidates will significantly increase party cohesion and peace.
He added that the NPP will continue to hold power in 2024 and praised the work done by President Nana Akufo-administration Addo's since it came to power.
