The Alavanyo Youth Association urges "the youth, chiefs and people of Nkonya to exhibit caution, and speak to their youth and regard the incidence strictly as a crime and not a kindling of any inter-ethnic war," according to a press release from the organization.
In addition, the press release said that "the youth of Alavanyo have been doing everything in our power as youth and future leaders to speak to our colleagues to embrace everlasting peace and are setting up plans to meet the leadership of Alavanyo and Nkonya Youth for Peace to recommence the community visitations we used to embark on and have some fun activities before this unfortunate incident."
"We are not ready for any activity that will bring retrogression and make us proceed in the reversed gear to imperil the tranquility we are experiencing," the Youth of Alavanyo claim.
The statement said, "We have never looked forward to any breach in the calm we have recently been experiencing, which is restoring agricultural and other economic activity in both areas.
